BEWARE 'TRENDY' COSMETIC TREATMENTS
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has expressed concern over the quick-fix promises of prominent procedures like the SmartLipo, Lifestyle Lift, and Thread-Tox. With widespread and memorable advertising, these catchy names may give people the wrong impression. Additionally, their featured placement on TV and radio waves are spreading their brand-names across America like wildfire. They may sound too good to be true…
In fact, they likely are too good to be true. According to Dr. Al Aly, a member of the ASAPS Body Contouring Committee, “These named procedures are used by the marketing entity to popularize the technique so that patients ask for it whether it fits their situation or not.”
It is essential to work with a board-certified cosmetic surgeon who understands subtle differences in the individual facial or body structure of each patient. Always remember to ask what medical setting these procedures will be performed in. The Lawler Centre is a private, safe, on-site facility where your safety is the number one concern and priority.
"The issue of untrained or inadequately trained practitioners, some of whom are not medical doctors, performing cosmetic plastic surgery is an extremely serious patient safety concern," says ASAPS president Renato Saltz, MD. "For ultimate patient safety, it is essential that the media and the general public be better educated about what constitutes appropriate training to perform operations such as facelifts, rhinoplasty, liposuction, abdominoplasty, breast surgery and cosmetic eyelid surgery."
