A forehead lift, also referred to as a browlift, is most often considered by people over 40 and can minimize forehead creases, drooping eyebrows, hooding over eyes, furrowed forehead and frown lines by removing excess tissue, altering muscles and tightening the forehead skin. Patients have the choice of opting for the traditional technique, with an incision across the top of the head just behind the hairline; or with the use of an endoscope, which requires 3 to 5 short incisions. The duration of results is usually 5 to 10 years.

The forehead lift procedure is usually an outpatient procedure encompassing approximately 1 to 2 hours. Anesthesia is often a local with sedation, or in some cases general anesthesia may be recommended. Temporary swelling, numbness, headaches, bruising can be expected. Also, if using the traditional technique, possible itching and hair loss may occur.

Our patients are usually back to work in 7 to 10 days. (Bruising usually varies from 2 to 3 weeks.) More strenuous activity is not recommended for several weeks. Exposure to the sun must be limited for several months.
