Laser Facial Resurfacing smoothes the face and smoothes fine wrinkles using a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser device that treats layers of damaged skin allowing a fresh layer to become the new surface. This procedure also softens lines around the eyes and mouth and minimizes facial scars and unevenly pigmented areas. The duration of results is long lasting, but does not stop aging. New wrinkles and expression lines may form as skin ages.

Laser Facial Resurfacing is usually an outpatient procedure that can last anywhere from a few minutes to 1 hour. Also, this procedure may require more than 1 session.

Anesthesia is often a local with sedation, or in some cases general anesthesia may be recommended. Temporary swelling, discomfort and lightening of treated skin can be expected. Also, some patients have experienced acute sun sensitivity, increased sensitivity to makeup and pinkness or redness in skin that may persist for up to 6 months.

Our patients are usually back to work in 2 weeks but should avoid strenuous activities for 4 to 6 weeks. The complete fading of redness takes 6 months or less. Return of pigmentation/Light sun exposure: 6 to 12 months.
