Nose surgery (Rhinoplasty) reshapes the nose by reducing or increasing size, removing hump, changing shape of tip of bridge, narrowing span of nostrils, or changing angle between nose and upper lip. This procedure may also relieve some breathing problems, and in some cases, is covered by insurance. The results are permanent.
Nose surgery is usually an outpatient procedure encompassing 1 to 2 hours or more. Anesthesia is often a local with sedation, or in some cases general anesthesia may be recommended. Temporary swelling, bruising around eyes and nose are common as well as bleeding and stiffness.
Our patients are usually back to work in 1 to 2 weeks. More strenuous activities should be avoided for 2 to 3 weeks. Sunburn and contact with the nose should be avoided for 8 weeks.
